So, I am sure everyone has heard that Donald Trump has entered the race. It is all over the news. What does everyone think about Donald Trump? Anybody know where he stands on most of the issues?

Rand is running such a crappy campaign that I'm almost ready to just troll America and vote Trump.

I took the isidewith.com candidate quiz (which I highly recommend) and I found that I identify with Hilary more than Trump (50 percent to 30 percent). Trump may be complaining about real issues, but he often offers up the worst possible solution. I also feel like he's an idot.

And Ashley, do you think Rand's campaign will improve once the number of candidates thins out? It just seems like there's too much noise to get separation right now.

Trump is an authoritarian who says nothing of substance. Seriously, all he does is fire up the most ignorant conservatives. Look at his quotes(Paraphrasing a bit):"Mexicans are rapists." " I will build a wall in the border and make Mexico pay for it". How the fuck does he plan to do that? "Free trade works only if you have smart people." He wants to impose high tariffs. What the fuck? Is there anything less libertarian than that. He used to be pro gun control and pro universal healthcare. He has not clarified where he stands on those issues now. He has a plan to defeat ISIS, but won't share with anyone. Did I mention he is an interventionist? He "will make America great again" because he knows how to make deals with China. All he is saying is " I am a successful businessman so trust me". Yes, that's exactly what we need. We need to give tremendous political power to a narcissistic authoritarian and trust him with it. To his credit he has vaguely opposed NSA spying, yet he wants Snowden convicted with the death penalty. In short, it blows my mind how a conservative could support Trump, let alone a libertarian. The only thing I like about Trump is how he calls out the establishment's bullshit, but he is no better than the establishment. I don't think he has any chance of winning though.
Now, let's talk about Rand Paul. It is way too early to judge his campaign. It seems Rand is organizing the network of supporters in the field and is laying low in the media. Trump is hogging all the TV time. That explains the drop in the polls ( plus the crowded field) of course. Also, it is no advantage to peak now in the polls. Early polls mean nothing at this point. His fundraising may not be where it should, but again it's still early. We will have a better understanding where each candidate stands after Iowa and New Hampshire. I agree with Sebastian. Once the fields thins out, Rand's numbers will improve.

Sebastian, I love the isidewith quiz. It paired me with Rand Paul at about 80-something percent (and of course 97% Libertarian Party). I have even had my family take it and my brothers and mom are looking at me as their political teacher! So even though, I am working with two Democrats, and a Marco Rubio/Jeb Bush Republican, I will still try and make them see the light Clyde, I agree with you on Donald Trump. He is currently all talk, no substance. I feel he is only seriously being considered by people for his bluntness and the fact that the media keeps talking about him. Now when it comes to Rand's campaign, he is technically running for two offices (President, and then if he doesn't win that, Senator). So he is spending a lot of time in the Senate and dealing with legislation (which as it stands, he is having a much better attendance record than all the other senators who are running. Perhaps to use it as "see, I am doing my job even though, I ran for President. I am all about the job"). But that is me really looking into it. He wasn't as charismatic as I would have liked him to have been during the Forum last night on C-SPAN, but he did make himself stand out the most from all the others. His polling has dropped due to the media coverage of Trump, but he is still consistently polling better than all other Republicans when it comes to going against Hillary (which is a topic all on its own). I think we will see his numbers rise after the first debate this Thursday and as the candidates drop out (such as Kasich, Jindal, and a few others). I also think he has low numbers because "normal people" are still not paying attention to the race yet. They say it is too early to start paying attention and will do so later in the year or even next year. So we have to wait for those people to start coming into the fray. What do you think?
